It is with both sadness and excitement that I’ve decided to retire from both the Watervliet and Cohoes Housing Authority at the end of January. Over 33 years ago I took over as the Executive Director of the Watervliet Housing Authority. During these years, together with my fellow WHA and CHA employees and boards, I think we’ve done an outstanding job in making our community a better place to live.
There are so many accomplishments I look back on and am proud to have played a part in — whether it’s providing a home to someone in need, providing laptops to our high school kids, making sure that every child in the Authority gets a visit from Santa or putting together our big “thank you” to our Veterans on WVLT Channel 17! We’ve accomplished so much and there’s so many wonderful things we’ve done. We’ve moved the WHA and CHA into a housing authority that others strive to become and I’m so proud.
So as I move forward in my “retirement life” (the one that won’t involve those midnight phone calls that something is wrong), I wish the new director of Watervliet, Matt Ethier, and Kathy Oliver will be the new director of Cohoes the best of luck as they becomes the next Directors they’ll do a great job! Although I’m retiring at the end of January, I will continue to be active in the Watervliet community and look forward to what the future may hold for me.
Finally, as the holidays are fast approaching, I want to take this opportunity to say thank you and wish you health and happiness during the holiday season.
